About the course
Course content
The design process is the basis for an optimal construction process and an end-product according to the requirements of the client and the society.
The course shall give an introduction to design management, decision making, coordination and planning related to requirements from the site, the production, clients and public authorities. Available "tools", concept options and optimisation of costs and technology will be treated. Design management related to various contract types will be a main topic. The course will be partly based on cases. The course will go in parallel with AAR4951 Design Management at Department of Architectural Design and Management.
Learning outcome
Give the students basic knowledge about execution and management of the design process for building and construction projects.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, exercises and hands-on examplesin cooperation with representatives from the construction industry in Norway. The exercises will be related to current projects. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
