About the course

Course content

Primary functions of buildings, code and user requirements. Basics regarding heat, moisture and acoustics, design of thermal, moisture and sound insulation. Light and lighting. Wind, air and rain tightness. Choice of materials. Basic principles and calculations are used in analysis and design of building assemblies and details.

Learning outcome

The course aims at giving an understanding of basic physical and material relations, as well as requirements and influences, relevant to design of building elements and whole buildings.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, calculation excercises, use of simulation programs. 60% of the excercises have to be accepted. Written exam is the basis for the final passed grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
