About the course

Course content

The course comprises some advanced topics regarding fire technology and fire safety of buildings and construction works. It presents the principles of analysis, engineering and construction of works with various requirements of fire safety, e.g. as verified by use of risk analysis. It will be shown how a required safety level can be achieved by various measures - active/passive and single/in combination. The course will give good knowledge about fire properties of materials, fire resistance of components and structures, and an introduction to the principles and application of calculation methods and simulation tools. Through the course, the students will get a knowledge base for the exercise of fire safety engineering.

Learning outcome

Give in-depth knowledge on principles, methods and tools for documentation of fulfilling requirements regarding fire safety of buildings and construction works through fire safety engineering.

Learning methods and activities

The teaching will be given by lectures and seminars. A mandatory prosject task has to be fulfilled, and the report has to be approved before the exam.
