Course content

It is a major overlap between this subject and TBA4565, which means that these subjects can not be studied in parallel. Advanced themes and methods within the field of Geomatics will be presented, discussed and applied. Focus will be on subjects related to current research and new developments within the field. The students are expected to critically read and review scientific publications, and actively contribute to the subjects presented in the course. The students are also expected to contribute to presentations and discussions in colloquia. The content will, to some extent, be adopted to current issues and research within Geomatics at NTNU.

Learning outcome

The course aims to be adapted to the present research activities at the division of geomatics and the specified course choice of the student. The course also aims to strengthen the theoretical platform.

Knowlege: After completing the course, the student shall have knowledge about advanced themes, research-based topics, methods, and the new developments within geomatics.

Skills: After completing the course, the student shall be able to identify the challenges within the study field, and to solve the problems to be addressed. The student shall be able to critically consider scientific materials, and to have deeper undrestanding within the chosen study field based on scientific work methods.

General competence: After completing the course, the student shall have obtained ability to read scientific literatures critically, and to undrestand and use the terminology used in the study field. The student shall have obtained ability to work independently and in a team and be able to take the necessary initiative.

Learning methods and activities

The course is taught as a combination of lectures, colloquia and/or self studies. Theoretical assignments may also be given. If the colloquia are not carried out, the grade will only be based on the final oral exam. The lectures and exercises are in English when non-Norwegian speaking students follow the subject.
