About the course

Course content

Learning about basic elements in geographic information systems (GIS).
Data structures, acquisition, handling, analysis and presentation og geographical information. Spatial data models, topology, cartographic generalization, digital terrain models, multimedia GIS and GIS on the Internet.
Practical examples in exercises.

Learning outcome

General introduction to GIS.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and exercises. A project during the semester counts 50%. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
