About

About the course

Course content

Geometry of the reference ellipsoid, geoid modelling, datum, conform projection of the ellipsoid, satellite geodesy (GPS), system description and measuring techniques. Transformation of satellite vectors to a map projection. Estimation of coordinates and heights. Analyses of observations and networks.

Learning outcome

The course gives a teoretical platform in computations on the elliosoid and its map projections, in computations and analyses of coordinates and heights, and a further introduction to satellite geodesy (GPS/GNSS).

Learning methods and activities

Lechures. Computations and laboratory excersises. A subset of the assignments counts 30% of the final grade. The lectures and assignments are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

Compulsory assignments
