About the course
Course content
Geometrical road design, cross-section and alignment of roads, calculation of volumes and costs, methods for asphalt mixture design, bituminous binders, methods for structural design, bearing capacity, strengthening.
Learning outcome
Give an increased knowledge on selected topics for the planning and geometrical design of roads, an introduction to methods for structural design of roads, plus thorough knowledge of bituminous pavement materials. The subject also provides knowledge on the use of relevant software tools.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures combined with individual and group exercises. The lectures and exercises are in English when non-Norwegian speaking students follow the subject. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
