Course content
The specialization project should preferably be a pilot study for the following master thesis. The project topic should preferably be of a research or general investigational kind, but it could also be connected to a specific case of Railway infrastructure under planning, construction or operation. Project topics could be within planning, construction, operation or maintenance of rail transportation infrastructure. The result of the project work is a project report.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
How to specialize within a particular topic by using scientific methods.
Skills:
Identify a problem and set up research questions. Data collection and handling, literature search and review, as well as combining this with theoretical knowledge.
General competence:
Complete a comprehensive project, including to prepare a plan with milestones, point out results and write a report based on existing norms.
Learning methods and activities
The project work is performed as an independent work under supervision. The supervision is given in English when students who do not speak Norwegian do the project thesis.
The individual supervision is supplemented by seminars on selected topics during the semester.
Required previous knowledge
Passed exams for subjects on which the project is based.
