Course content
1. Combustion and gasification of carbonaceous fuels with emphasis on biomass.
2. Pollutants from stationary combustion: formation and emission.
3. Sampling and measurement techniques.
4. Absorption and its applications for flue gas.
5. Adsorption and its applications for flue gas and fuel gas.
6. Environmental catalysis (DeNOx).
7. Particle separation technologies.
8. Fly ash management and utilization.
Learning outcome
The course gives an overview of air pollution in general and more special pollution from combustion. An overview of different gas cleaning equipment and its use in industry is presented.
Learning methods and activities
Classroom lectures, calculation and laboratory exercises. The exercises are compulsory and must be approved before being admitted to the exam. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

Knowledge about engineering thermodymanics and fluid dynamics such as courses in Thermodynamics (TEP4120 or equivalent) and Fluid Mechanics (TEP4105 or equivalent).
