About the course

Course content

This course contains a specialization project at 15 ECTS credits directed towards electrical utilities and power systems, development and use of equipment for energy conversion, materials for use in electrical components, overvoltage problems, condition assessment and diagnostical methods. The projects may include offshore and marine plants, transmission and distribution networks, installations in buildings, use of renewable energy resourses, electrical railway systems and propulsion of vehicles. With the choice of the projectwork every student will get a belonging to one of the following professinal groups at The Department of Electrical Power Engineering:
- Energy Conversion Group.
- Power System Group.
- Electrical Power Technology Group.

Learning outcome

The student will specialize himself/herself within a specific topic within electric power technology based on scientific methods. It shall give the students knowledge and skills in how to carry out individual research projects, including reporting of the achieved results. The student shall also gain experience in giving oral presentastions through a presentation of his/her work.

Learning methods and activities

Independent project work with guidance. The project work and the results must be described in a project report. After submission of the report, the student must give an oral presentation of the project in front of employees and fellow students. The oral presentation does not affect the grade achieved for the project work.
