Thermodynamics: Thermal expansion, heat capacity, and transport of heat. Adiabatic processes in ideal gases. Carnot processes.
First and second law of thermodynamics.
Electromagnetism: Electricity, magnetism, electric circuits.
Learning outcome
The course shall give basic knowledge in physics which extends the physics knowledge obtained in high school. Further the course shall give experience in experimental work.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and problem solving, teaching in groups. 2/3 of the calculation exercises and all the laboratory exercises must be approved before the final exam. A re-sit examination may be changed from written to oral.
Compulsory assignments
- Calculation exercises
- Laboratory work
