About the course
Course content
The course aims at providing fundamental knowledge of renewable and non-renewable geological resources of the earth. Various types of natural resources will be described including mineral deposits, building stones, gravel, sand, soil, water, coal, oil, gas and other energy resources. Resources and reserves as well as their geographical and geological distribution will be defined and discussed together with consumption patterns and environmental aspects of resource exploitation.
Learning outcome
The course will provide the student with a basic overview of the geological resources of our planet, renewable as well as non-renewable.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and compulsory exercises. The exam can be changed from written to oral at the postponed exams (continuation exam).

Recommended previous knowledge
Course TGB4100 or similar knowledge of introductory geology.
