About the course
Course content
The methods of analysis include amongst others: atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), ICP-OES, ICP-MS, ion chromatography (IC), X-ray analysis (XRF, XRD) TDA/TGA, SEM and other methods.
Overview of methods for sampling/ sample preparation.
Learning outcome
This course will give students an introduction to various methods of analysis which are used in geological investigations of water and solid materials. The course is particularly directed towards students taking the following lines of study: 'miljø- og naturressursteknikk' and 'petroleumsgeofag og ressursgeologi' as well as students taking the masters degree in geologi.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, together with exercises linked to obligatory laboratory work and one days obligatory field work. The approved exercises and rapport will count as 40% of the final grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

The course is given for students at the study programmes Geology bachelor and master and Earth Sciences and Petroleum Engineering.
