About the course

Course content

Main topics are distribution of different types of soil onshore and offshore Norway, origin, stability, weathering, environmental issues, construction materials, area planning.

Learning outcome

To give the students detailed knowledge to the sediments formation and distribution i selected areas and their properties as building sites and raw material.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, colloquium, and compulsory field work (2 field trips). The exercises include a written literature project. The mark from the literature project counts 1/3 of the final grade. The exam can be changed from written to oral at the postponed exams (continuation exam). Lectures are held in English if international master students attend.
