Course - Hydrogeology - TGB4205
Hydrogeology
About
About the course
Course content
Theory and geology of groundwater occurrence and flow, types of aquifers, theory of aquifer tests and determination of aquifer parameters, water chemistry and quality criterions, relation between geology and water chemistry, ground water contamination and restoration, monitoring programs, design of wells and protection zones.
Learning outcome
To give students basic knowledge of groundwater in rock and soil, know characteristic hydrogeological parameters, the main principles for water flow, chemical development, sampling and characterization. The students shall know the principles for dimensioning of aquifers and zones of protection, alternative methods for extraction and principles of water treatment.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, exercises and obligatoric excursions with report. The exam can be changed from written to oral at the postponed exams (continuation exam).
