Course content
Use of Finite Element program Phase2 for exercise. Model generation, input parameters, computation, result analysis, post-processing and reporting. Simulation of excavation, in-situ rock stress and rock support.
Learning outcome
The course will give students basic knowledge and techniques of numerical analysis for rock engineering.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercise, mainly exercise. A total of 4 or 5 lectures in a semester, each 2 hours. Exercise: a complete numerical analysis of a real underground cavern or tunnel. Lectures are held in English.
