About the course
Course content
The course describes typical operational, tactical and strategical planning problems from Norwegian and international industry which require quantitative modeling and industrial optimization. Industry sectors include transport and logistics, production planning and petroleum. It is taught how advanced Operations Research models and corresponding software are used for development of decision support systems for such problems.
Learning outcome
Provide knowledge necessary for development of decision support for solving technical and economical planning problems in different branches of industry and services using optimization and simulation technology with corresponding commercial software.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, exercises, cases and small computer projects. Computer projects are performed in groups. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral.

Recommended previous knowledge
The course is build upon TIØ4130 Optimization Methods, or similar knowledge.
