About the course

Course content

Each student needs, in cooperation with the supervisor, to choose 2 of the following small theory courses (3.75 ECTS each). At least one of these courses must be chosen: TIØ1 Financial Engineering in Energy Markets (Stein-Erik Fleten), TIØ3 Market, Economics and Planning for Telecom- and Information Services (Josip Zoric and Alexei Gaivoronski), TIØ20 Mathematical Finance (NN), TIØ28 Advanced Corporate Finance(Stein Frydenberg) and TIØ29 Risk Management in Financial- and Commodity Markets (Sjur Westgaard) - one or more topics in mathematical, empirical and corporate finance. If there is an agreement with course coordinator about examination and the supervisor consents, at most one of the following can be chosen: - TIØ6 Planning and Economical Analysis in Supply Chains (Asgeir Tomasgard), - TIØ24 Research Methods (Roger Klev), - TMR8 Fleet Scheduling and Supply Chains (Kjetil Fagerholt).

Learning outcome

The course will aim to increase the student theoretical knowledge needed for doing both practical and theoretical work connected to financial or economic analysis in industrial settings.

Learning methods and activities

The small courses may consist of lectures and seminars. The re-sit exam for the small courses is arranged by the end of the same exam period as the ordinary exam. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

Required previous knowledge

Students taking this project course must also elect TIØ4550 Financial Engineering, Specialization Project. In addition the following courses must have been completed in the fourth year: TIØ4145 Corporate Finance, and at least one of the following: TIØ4140 Project Evaluation and Financing, TIØ4317 Empirical and Quantitative Methods in Finance, TIØ4135 ICT Economics - Planning and Economics of Tele and Information Services.
