About the course
Course content
The topic consists of a theoretical part (3F+3S) and a term paper (4S). The theoretical part covers current status of nuclear energy, fabrication and enrichment of nuclear fuel, reactor technology including PWR, BRW and HWR and future reactor concepts, recycling of spent fuel, principles and storage of waste, nuclear safety, nuclear weapons and non-prolification issues.
Learning outcome
Have knowledge about the most important components in a nuclear energy system including fuel fabrication, reactors, recycling and storage of waste. Have knowledge about nuclear weapons and non-prolification issues.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and project work. The project work count 20 % of the final grade. At postponed exams written exam can be substituted with oral exam.
