About

About the course

Course content

Calculation of dynamic load and response for slender civil engineering structures. Strategy for the solution of dynamic equilibrium equations in time and frequency domain. Solutions by stochastic methods. Theory of bridge aerodynamics. Dynamic response from earthquake excitation. Simulation of stochastic input and response processes from spectra.

Learning outcome

The aim of the course is to achieve competance in the calculation of displacements and cross sectional forces in structures subject to dynamic loads.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, seminars and excercises or semester assignments. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
