Course content

Statically determinate structures: Beams, plane trusses and frames. Axial force, shear force and bending moment distribution in structures. Stress, strain and elasticity. Two- and three-dimensional states of stress. Yield and failure criteria.

Learning outcome

This is a basic course in statics and strength of materials. Determination of section forces in statically determinate structures. Stresses, strains elasticity and failure criteria.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and exercises. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
