About the course

Course content

Principles of strucural design and material properties. Limit-state conditions, stress-strain relations. Ultimate limit-state capacities with respect to uniaxial loading, bending and shear: columns, beams, plates. Deformations, creep, shrinkage and crack-width calculations in Service limit state. Slenderness, calculation of 2. order moments in columns. Design of foundations.

Learning outcome

The subject offers basic knowledge about design of simple concrete structures, and theoretical background for the regulations in Eurocode2.

Learning methods and activities

Teaching: Lectures and calculation exercises. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
