Timber Structures
About
About the course
Course content
Typical structural systems for timber structures. Timber as a structural material, mechanical properties (strength and stiffness), durability, glued and laminated components. Basic design and verification of timber structures, design rules and tools. Details and joint design. Glulam and arch structures. Stability and bracing systems.
Learning outcome
The course intends to give a basic introduction to timber design and structural systems for timber structures. The course shall lead to basic knowledge and competence with respect to design of timber structures subjected to static loads.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, exercise and possible model building. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
Compulsory assignments
- Exercises
