Course - Polymers and Composites - TMM4175
Polymers and Composites
About
About the course
Course content
Relations between structure and properties for polymers and composites. The mechanical properties of important thermoplastics, thermosets, fibre composites based on glass, carbon, aramide and natural fibre are emphasized. Theoretical and practical use for viscoelastic, rubberelastic and anisotropic material models. Damage mechanisms, damage analysis, and analysis methods for simple structures. Forming and processing methods related to material selection and design.
Learning outcome
To obtain basic knowledge about material selection, design and processing of products where polymers and composites are important engineering materials.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, problems and demonstrations related to selected products and structures. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
