Course - Mechanical Vibrations - TMM4185
Mechanical Vibrations
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2010/2011
About
About the course
Course content
Basic theory in mechanical vibrations and structural finite element dynamic analysis. Identification and classification of vibrations in mechanical systems and selection of best analysis approach. Modal and force response analysis with harmonic and transient loads. Introduction to fatigue analysis based on strains and stresses from dynamic finite element analysis. Matrix and numerical methods applied to linear and non-linear dynamic problems.
Learning outcome
The course shall give both theoretical and practical knowledge about identification, modelling and analysis of vibrations in mechanical systems based on the finite element method. The course is based on the solution of practical problems og shall give a comprehensive experience in dynamic analysis and optimization of industrial mechanical systems.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises. To be allowed to take the examination requires that 3/4 of the exercises are accepted. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
