Course - Materials Technology 3 - TMT4177
Materials Technology 3
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2010/2011
About
About the course
Course content
The following topics are included; phase transformations, microstructure evolution and structure-properity relations in engineering materials like steels, light metals (Al, Mg, Ti),ceramics and composites. Also electrical, magnetic and optical properties of functional materials are included.
Learning outcome
The subject is a continuation of TMT4171 Materials Technology 1 and TMT4176 Materials Tecnology 2. The objective is to give a broad overview of the microstructure and properties of the most important structural and functional materials that are currently used in industry.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, exercises, project assignments and presentations. Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a final written exam (60%) and exercises (40%). The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral.
Compulsory assignments
- Exercises
Recommended previous knowledge
The subject is based on TMT4171 Materials Technology 1 and TMT4176 Materials Technology 2.
