Course content
Drilling of subsea wells, procedures and challenges to operation performed from floating vessels. Handling and operation of marine drilling riser, riser margin, positioning of vessel and mooring systems. Overview of alternative solutions for field development. Criteria for selection of subsea solution. Elements of subsea production systems. Guidebase, wellhead, X-Mas tree configuration, manifold and piping systems, downhole and subea pumping and processing systems, control systems for production and well intervention. Methods for well intervention, handling of equipment from floating vessel, requirements for vessel and systems for heave compensating. Safety and reliability considerations. Trend and future technology development for subsea completed wells.
Learning outcome
Will give a basic introduction to establishing, design, operation and maintenance of subsea completed wells.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises. Lectures will be held in English if international masterstudents should participate. The exam can be changed from written to oral at the postponed exams (continuation exam).
