About the course
Course content
Oilwell drilling, equipment and methods, components, system assemblies and arrangement. Drilling process analysis: Hoisting, rotation, pumping; component and system loads, dimensioning, safety factors. Borehole steering. Drillstring load analysis, drillstring dimensioning, static and dynamic, critical oscillations. Borehole control analysis, drilling fluids, casing analysis, loads and dimensioning.
Learning outcome
Basics in Drilling Engineering.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, obligatory field training, group work during the exercise lessons, problem- and solution related (PBL). Dialogue on decision options and problem solving. The exercises count for 25% of the final grade. The exam can be changed from written to oral at the postponed exams (continuation exam).
