Manufacturing Technology
About
About the course
Course content
Manufacturing processes applied in casting, forging, extrusion, drawing, sheet-metal forming, joining, and layer manufacturing of products made from engineering materials. Material removal processes such as milling, turning, grinding, laser cutting, electroerosion and water-jet cutting. Fundamentals of machine tools and equipment used in manufacturing processes. Metrology and quality engineering.
Learning outcome
The student should achieve fundamental knowledge about industrial manufacturing processes commonly used in manufacturing of products from engineering materials. The student should get a clear understanding of how the quality of a product is related to the fundamentals of the processes involved, and how satisfactory manufacturing conditions can be determined. The course should give the students knowledge about how products should be designed to make them feasible for manufacturing.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, team-work, exercises, and laboratory work. Case-studies count for 20 % in the evaluation. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
