About the course

Course content

Architecture and functionality of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems: sales and operations planning, master scheduling, material requirement planning, capacity planning, forecasts, and inventory management. Functionality, configuration, and modification of the ERP-system Microsoft AX: master planning, production, sales ledger, purchase ledger, stock management, product builder. Methodology for analysis and implementation of ERP-systems: needs analysis, requirement specification, modification specification, and user case. Architecture and functionality of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems: item and document management, product structure management, workflow and change management.

Learning outcome

The student shall get the competence to be able to work as a consultant or IT leader in the company’s acquisition, implementation, and optimisation of ERP- and PLM-systems. The students will learn about the architecture, functionally and modification of ERP- and PLM systems, and about needs analysis and strategic assessments in the implementation of such systems.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, exercises and project work. Evaluation will be based on project work (40%) and a written exam (60%). Admission to taking the exam requires 2/3 of the exercises to have been approved. At re-sit exam (make-up examination), a written exam may be changed to an oral exam.
