About
About the course
Course content
Principles for design of transmitters and receivers for digital transmission. Examples of channel models; twisted pair cables, fibreoptical transmission. Baseband transmission, line codes, digital modulation methods, symbol by symbol detection, optimum methods of detection, the Viterbi algorithm, adaptive equalisation, timing- and carrier recovery.
Learning outcome
The course intends to give a basic introduction to principles and systems for transmission of digital information in different types of transmission channels.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and excercises. There will be two compulsory computer based excercises plus a set of voluntary excercises. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. The course may be held in English.
