Course - Technical Acoustics - TTT4180
Technical Acoustics
About
About the course
Course content
Field descriptions in the frequency and time domains. Visualization of acoustic fields. Sound propagation above ground. Influence of atmospheric conditions and physical boundaries. Room acoustics and sound propagation in wave guides. Idealized sound sources and radiation from vibrating plates and membranes. Musical instruments as sound sources.
Coupling between vibrating structures and acoustic fields. Analytical and numerical solutions.
Learning outcome
The course shall give a theoretical and a practical insight into sound generation and propagation in open and closed systems. The applications will primarily be the analysis and konstruction of acoustic sources, acoustic treatment of rooms, and design of silent systems.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, obligatory and non obligatory exercises. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
Compulsory assignments
- Exercises
Recommended previous knowledge
Knowledge in mathematics and physics corresponding to 1st and 2nd year of the study program for electronics. Necessary basic acoustic theory will be given during the course.
Course materials
Information will be given at the start of the course.
