About the course

Course content

Fundamental antenna properties. Radiation from general current sources in free space. Array antennas. Analysis of some important types like electrically small antennas, resonant antennas, broadband antennas, and aperture antennas including reflector antennas. The method of moments for computing the current distribution on wire antennas.

Learning outcome

One should understand the fundamental radiation mechanisms and from that understand the specific properties of the antenna types treated. One should also achieve a good design background for building such antennas.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures. Compulsary computer and laboratory exercises. Optional problem exercises. In case of continuation, the written exam may be changed to oral exam. The course is held in English.
