About the course
Course content
An introduction to Space Technology and Space oriented activities will be presented. Mechanics in Space.Weightlessness and microgravity research. The atmosphere. Rocket technology. Satellites. Observational satellites, environmental observations. Communication and communication systems. Man in Space. The course will run once a week in the autumn term, starting in the middle of September. This course gives the basic knowledge for taking TTT4235 Space Technology II in the spring semester.
Learning outcome
The course should give an introduction in some important parts of Space Technology.
Learning methods and activities
The course will be given every week. Essay/report on subject chosen in cooperation with lecturer is compulsory. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

Recommended previous knowledge
The course is open for students from different fields and faculties. In some parts of the course, e.g. on orbits in space, communication systems etc., it is an advantage with knowledge in mathematics and physics. In other parts, on e.g. weightlessness, it is an advantage to have an insight in biological/medical systems.

A textbook will be recommended. Notes and handouts will be made available.
