About the course
Course content
The course is a concentrated practice/experimentally oriented course.
Exact date will be decided as soon as possible. The course contains i.a. one week of laboratory exercises and experiments at the Andøya Rocket Range, from 13-17 June 2011. It is based on the course TTT4234 Space Technology I, that is required for uptake.
The uptake is limited due to existing available resources at the Andøya Rocket Range.
The exercises comprise e.g. determination of the height of the atmosphere, rocket tracking etc. It is planned to have a launch of a student rocket.
In addition to the laboratory exercises the course contains lectures etc. and 2 project reports should be written by the student.
Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a project/essay with presentation 30%, exercises 40% and a final project after the stay at Andøya 30%. The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade.
The course is given, provided necessary funding.
Learning outcome
The course aims at giving an increased understanding of practical and theoretical aspects of Spacet technology. It also aims at an increase of the students' ability to perform bigger expeirments requiring more complicated logistics.
Learning methods and activities
The main part of the course is a concetrated, full time activity at the Andøya rocket base. In addition comes preparations and report writing etc. Individual reports over projects, exercises and laboratory exercises are compulsory.
Recommended previous knowledge
The course is open to students from different subjects and faculties.
Is is required that the student has passed the course TTT4234, Space Technology I.
Course materials
Text book will be recommended and notes, handouts and other material will be distributed.
