About the course
Course content
Basic fluid mechanics: hydrostatics, water continuity, momentum equation, Bernoulli's equation, Energy equation, Navier-Stokes equation, pipe and channel flow, singular and friction losses, Manning+Chezy's equations, Darcy-Weissbachs equation, Moody's diagram, drag and lift, linear wave theory etc.
Learning outcome
Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and hydraulics.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, compulsory homework and labwork. Voluntary lab at Pirbadet. Voluntary electronic network based excercise. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

Basic courses in mathmatics and physics.
Required previous knowledge
The course is taught in Norwegian, so the students have to know this language.
