Course content

The course is designed to give a broad theoretical and practical foundation wighting practical design and analysis of elements for the urban water system.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:
Students shall know about;
- Conditions that are decisive for the function of the total water and wastewater system;
- Interaction between treatment plant and pipe network;
- Practical design of treatment plant for water supply and wastewater;
- Methods and equipment for measurement of condition and change;
- Planning tools and master plans and rehabilitation of networks.

Skills;
Students shall have the ability to;
- Use databased design tools to analyse need for rehabilitation of water and wastewater networks;
- Carry out design of treatment plants for water and wastewater for Norwegian and international conditions.

General competence;
Students understand:
- Requirements for good management practice in Nowegian and international communities;
- Requirements for water and wasewater and threats due to climate change, urbanization etc.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, seminars, study groups and self studies. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
