Course - Water and Wastewater Systems - TVM4127
Water and Wastewater Systems
About
About the course
Course content
This course is composed of two parts:
1. Urban storm water technology (S.T. Thorolfsson).
2. Water and wastewater network technology (S. Sægrov).
The content of each of these two parts is the same as that of the Specialization course themes of the same name (see also TVM4515). The course shall give theoretical and practical foundation for planning, design and operation of water supply and wastewater systems. Within the area for stormwater technology lectures are given on the effect of urbanisation on the urban water balance. Quanity and quality of stormwater. Data collection. Planning, analyzing and projecting of facilities for flow and pollution controll including snowmelt. Specific problems in stormwater management in cold climate. Alternative accessment based on environmental and economic aspects and risk. Stormwater as a pert of the urban environment. Sustainable and ecological solutions. Stormwater plans. Laws regualtions and EU-NS standards. Within water annd wastewater network technology lectures are given on external and internal mechnical loads, pipe materials, mechanical properties, degraditation. Condition control technologies. Renovation techniques and systems for rehabilitation planning.
Learning outcome
The course shall give in depth competence the area of urbanm storm water technology and Water and wastewater network technology and skills in planning, functionality and design of the technical units in water and wastewater systems.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, seminars, study groups and self studies. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
