About the course

Course content

Water in city. The urban water system on and underground, i.e. surface water, groundwater and pipes. System loads and capacity, pressure, hydraulic conditons, water quality, alternative assessment. Life cicle assessment and renewing. Water sources and recipients. Masterplans and intergtaed urban water managment. Modelling the water supply and wastewater system. Datacollection. UVS in cold climate. Stormwater mannagement. Pipe technology. Assessment of UVS based on sustainablity, envirnomental and economic aspects and risk. Laws, regulations and standards.

Learning outcome

The course shall give the students skills in analyzing and dimensioning urban water systems (UVS), and to suggest improvements, optimization and operation strategies for UVS.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures combined with exercises and laboratory exercises partially done in groups. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
