About the course

Course content

The specialization course (7,5 SP) shall contain two out of the following four course themes:
Within Water and Wastewater Systems:
Urban Storm water technology (S.T. Thorolfsson).
Water and wastewater network technology (S. Sægrov).
Within Water and Wastewater Treatment:
Drinking water treatment and water hygiene (L.Fiksdal).
Wastewater treatment and sludge handling (H.Ødegaard).
The course themes shall give a theoretical and practical knowledge foundation within the area of water and wastewater engineering and support the specialization project that is chosen in one of the subareas: Water and Wastewater Systems and Water and Wastewater Treatment. The choice of orientation of the Specialization Project will therefore have an influence on the choice of course themes.
Students that want as broad competence as possible within the area of water and wastewater technology, but profiled towards water and wastewater treatment would choose the themes :
Drinking water treatment and water hygiene,
Wastewater treatment and sludge handling,
and the Specialization project within one of these themes.
In addition the student would naturally choose Water and wastewater systems as an ordinary course the same semester.
Likevise would students that want as broad competence as possible within the area of water and wastewater technology, but profiled towards water and wastewater systems would choose the themes :
Urban Storm water technology,
Water and wastewater network technology,
and the Specialization project within one of these themes.
In addition the student would naturally choose Water and wastewater treatment as an ordinary course the same semester.

Learning outcome

The course shall give specialization relevant for the area of Water and Wastewater Engineering for instance competence and skills in planning, functionality and design of the technical units in water and wastewater systems and treatment plants.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, seminars, study groups and self studies. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course. Postponed exam is held within the end of the exam period.
