About the course
Course content
The course further develops students' ability to critically analyse literary works, non-fictional prose, films and/or radio dramas, building on TYSK1401 German literature og culture I. The main focus is on literary, cultural or social phenomena in German culture in the period from 1870 to 1945.
Learning outcome
Students will be expected to acquire an understanding of genres, periods, and central concepts within literary and cultural studies. They will be expected to be able to formulate and solve problematic issues, and to analyse forms of cultural expressions, within specific cultural, historical, or generic contexts. Students should also develop the capacity to cunduct efficient literature searches, and to make correct use of sources their own work.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, group sessions, supervision and oral presentations. Assessment: home exam (10-12 pages) and oral exam. Both parts of the exam are graded together. Failing one part of the exam entails failing the whole course. Students who fail must sit both parts of the exam again.
Compulsory assignments
- 2 written assignments, each 3-4 pages.

TYSK1401 or equivalent approved courses.
