About the course
Course content
Literary and cultural issues and relations are analysed in thematic perspectives that may transcend both period and genre.
Learning outcome
Students are expected to further develop their understanding of the interrelation between literature and culture. To help students in their future work on a Master's thesis, or other forms of problem-oriented academic work, they will be expected to develop the ablity to work independently and analytically, and to select appropriate forms of presentation for their work.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and group sessions. Assessment: home exam (4-6 pages) and oral exam. Both parts of the exam are graded together. Failing one part entails failing the whole course. Students who fail must sit both parts of the exam again.
Compulsory assignments
- 1 oral presentation, approx. 10 min.
- 1 assignment written in German, approx. 1200 words
