About the course
Course content
The area of study gives an introduction to central theory and empirical findings relating to political processes from decisions to implementation in Norwegian adult education policy. The theory will be grounded in international academic literature, while the empirical findings will primarily be based on Norway and Norwegian conditions. The focus will be on Norwegian policy and Norwegian education reforms from "Voksenopplæringsloven" (the Adult Education Act; 1976) to the present, with emphasis on the implementation of adult learning policies such as adult rights and access to education. Adult opportunities in the education system, Reform 94, the Competence Reform and Knowledge Promotion are also discussed.
Learning outcome
The study aims to give students increased understanding and insight into the development and implementation of Norwegian adult learning policy.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, seminars and term paper. A list of possible themes for the term paper will be presented. All guidance relating to the term paper will be given during the seminars.
