About

About the course

Course content

Theory for simulation of Hydropower systems. This can also contain selected hydraulic and hydrological concepts which are important for planning and operation of hydropower systems.

Use of some selected models/program systems for hydropower simulation for planning and operation.

Data set up, calibration and use for some selected case studies.

Learning outcome

To know the theoretical background and how use the most important
Hydropower simulation models, including:

- To identify what type of model to use
- To collect and prepare data
- To prepare the data set for modelling
- To interpret and use the results.

Learning methods and activities

Seinars and self study.
Lectures and exercises, hands on training in the use
of Hydropower simulation models. Project work that
counts for 30% of the grade. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
