About the course
Course content
Chemical quality of natural water. The carbonate system and buffer capacity of natural waters. Dissolution and precipitation reactions in relation to water quality. The effect of water quality on cement material in environmental engineering constructions. Red-ox conditions in water. Selected topics on water pollution.
Learning outcome
The student will learn theory and principles of chemical equilibrium used for evaluation of water quality in water and waste water treatment.
Learning methods and activities
Seminars and supervised self study. Individual project work. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
Recommended previous knowledge
Course TVM4110 Water Chemistry or equivalent.
