Course content

Assessment for sustainability with regard to social, environmental and economic impacts for water and wastewater systems including pipe networks and treatments plants.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:
The candidate should have knowledge of assessment of sustainability for water and wastewater systems and forecasting performance and reliability of water and wastewater services. The candidate should be able to consider the application of various analytical methods in the field. Further she or he should contribute to the development of new theories and methods in the field.

Skills:
The candidate should master selection of methods and tools to analyse sustainability, and be able to make use of modeling tools.
The candidate should be able to use these skills to perform research at a high international level. The candidate should be able to assess the work of others on the same level.

General competence:
The candidate should be able to use knowledge from the discipline for scientific assignments and projects, and to publish research and development results in recognized national and international channels.

Learning methods and activities

Guided self study, workshops, developments of a paper based on selected topic. To pass the course a score of at least 70 percent is required.

Books, articles, plus reports from recent Norwegian and international research programs.
