About the course

Course content

An introduction to the comparative anatomy of vertebrates (fish, amphibia, reptiles, birds and mammals)is given on the background of their origin and phylogenetic development. Tissues, structures and organ systems are presented in accordance with international standard textbooks. In addition to lectures and a dissection course the students are expected to participate in preparatory activities (discussion groups, quizz). A laboratory journal from the dissection course must be approved.

Learning outcome

On completion of the course the students should be familiar with the comparative anatomy of vertebrates, and understand their origin and phylogenetic development.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures: 30 hours
Laboratory course: 15 hours, mandatory
