Aquatic Ecophysiology
About
About the course
Course content
The course runs every second year, next time 2010-2011. The course provides an introduction to physiological mechanisms and adaptations in aquatic animals, with particular emphasis on fish. Subjects covered include: osmo-regulation, water balance, regulation of cell volume, metabolism, endocrinology, sense physiology and effects of changing external environmental factors (water quality, temperature, photoperiod).
Learning outcome
On completion of the course the students should be familiar with physiological mechanisms and adaptations in fish and other aquatic animals. Students should also have knowledge of central subjects such as: osmo-regulation, water balance, regulation of cell volume, metabolism, endocrinology and sense physiology.
