Cell and Molecular Biology
- Specialisation
Cell biology is the study of the cell as a separate unit and as part of a larger organism. The most important tool for modern cell biology is molecular biology, which deals with the chemical processes and molecular structure of life.
The master’s thesis within cell and molecular biology could for instance use plant cell cultures (e.g. protoplasts) and tissue cultures in connection with biochemical, physiological or microbiological examinations. It is also possible to study the molecular basis for ecological interaction and evolutionary changes in plants and animals.
The admission requirements for Cell and Molecular Biology are one of the following two alternatives:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology;subject combination Cell and Molecular Biology with the following compulsory courses:
After the first three semesters in your Bachelor’s degree programme, you must choose the courses BI2012, BI2014, and BI2015. - Students with a Bachelor’s Degree from other institutions with relevant subject combinations will be evaluated individually.
