The master’s thesis within Ethology can be based on both field and laboratory work. Problems with an evolutionary approach which look into animal behaviour as adaptations to their external environment (behavioural ecology) are particularly central.
Other central areas are human ethology and conservation biology as well as applied ethology, for instance with fish. In cooperation with academic supervisors from other areas of study and external supervisors, it will be possible to write theses that touch upon e.g. physiology and psychology.
The admission requirements for Ethology are one of the following alternatives:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology; with subject combination Ecology, Ethology, Evolutionary Biology with the following compulsory courses:
After the three first semesters of your Bachelor’s degree programme in Biology, you must choose BI 2033, BI2034, BI2040, ZO 2041, ZO 2042, MA0002, ST0101, and ST0102.
- Students with a Bachelor’s degree from other institutions with relevant subject combinations will be evaluated individually.
